You have to get it started and then slide opener onto tab. Other than that though, it is an excellent tool. Really versatile and love having it available in my kitchen.

The one issue I had with it was that it did not pick up the tab on the can. You have to bend the tab up. Then use the tool. It works exactly as described. I think it’s an outstanding tool.
